Churches and Christ

Budesti Church of Saint Nicholas is a UNESCO site and a real treat for church buffs. The sad thing is the churches are nearly always locked up with no means of finding the key keeper.

The following pictures are a collection of Christ being crucified. I’m told these are known as Rastigniri and are found all over Maramures. They are emblematic of Maramures and often seen in peoples gardens or at a junction of some kind.

This Madonna standing in the entry to the church was made all the more imposing with her electrified halo.
